DREAM
TECH, a program of Dreammakers, Inc. is a ground-breaking creative
learning program that is focused primarily on inspiring the citizens
of Jefferson County, Alabama to impact their community through innovation.
General
Enrichment.
The General Enrichment training provides core training to enable
participants to
become technology fluent. This exposure program will use technology-based
activities and lessons to improve technology fluency, critical thinking,
communication, and problem solving. Programs offered include:
i.
Computer Basics
The Internet and personal computers are great, but to effectively
navigate, you need to know how to type. Using fun and challenging
games to keep kids motivated, this 16 week instructional Typing
course will be offered three times a week for 1.5 hours. Students
will easily adapt to the practice sessions that include IM/text
messages, emoticons, and excerpts from classic books and stories
that are included on the Birmingham Public School’s reading
lists.
ii. Microsoft Office Basics
Student will be offered an 8 week instructional course on a Microsoft
Office 2003 product (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access). Courses
will be offered twice a week for 2.5 hours a day. At the end of
the course, students will take the Microsoft Office Specialist
certification test, in which once passed, the student will receive
a Microsoft Office Specialist certification credential. This credential
is recognized worldwide
